Venetta Coulbourne: No, you cannot simply convert a digital multiplexed optical signal to separate electrical analogue (or even digital) signals. Your only solution is to either not use the optical output or to upgrade your A/V amplifier to one which has an optical input.

Krystal Cordovano: Those home theater in a box are a waste of money. They are mainly designed for you to watch a movie with the built in player with surround sound. It is not flexible for adding anything or up grading, when one item fails the whole unit has to be replaced. You will need a stand alone receiver that has an optical audio input or a sound bar.! This is a common issue with consumers who purchase a home the! ater in a box and then find out they can not add anything to it. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for.
