Devon Kalberer: FruitsVegetablesLegumesNuts and seedsGrainsPastaBreadsFake dairyFake meatand so forthI went vegan overnight and for a day it was hard not to eat meat. For two weeks it was hard with the cakes and junk. Now i crave none of that and eat none of that.I did get really pale, really weak, and lost a lot of weight, which troubled my family. But I am all good now.So now since it is has been nearly three months (well three months on december first but that isn't far away) i don't crave it. I enjoy alot of healthy alternatives. like my favorites: pineapple, strawberry, kiwi, and banna salad; tomato soup with vegan friendly bread; and pineapple juice ^.^....Show more
Rose Krouse: I'm 17 and I've been a vegetarian for over a year. It's been wonderful! There are vegetarian options EVERYWHERE. Even Burger King has an AWESOME veggie burger. I've never been anywhere where I couldn't find something to eat. I think it's great that you're considering vegetari! anism at age 13, I wish I had started earlier. The only issue you will run into is people (even friends and family) questioning your decision. At first I felt overwhelmed when my friends told me I "had to eat meat" and I would be "unhealthy", but now I love to vocalize my opinion of why vegetarianism is great, healthy, and humain. In a couple hundred years I bet meat eaters will be the minority and vegetarianism will be the norm.Good luck with everything, and I sincerely hope you decide to go veg! :)...Show more
Giovanna Sherlin: There are two of us. #1 and #2.#1 - I think you should definitely become vegetarian. I have been one since I was born. At first, it was because meat looks disgusting and I refused to eat it. But when I grew up, I figured out that I was a vegetarian without knowing it and decided to keep living that way. Millions of innocent animals die every year because we (humans) kill them. What's worse, we eat them. Most feel no shame at all. Somehow ! they ignore the fact that animals are living beings, like us, ! that had families, and feelings. They had a life. And when you kill them, or eat them, you take all that away. It's truly horrifying. I will never understand. SO yes, you should become vegetarian. There are so many other food choices out there. It's like a quote from Ghandi: Be the change you want to see in the world. If you don't believe in killing animals, yet you do nothing to stop it, or support the stopping of it, then you are almost no better than the one doing it. That's what I believe, anyway. #2 - I (sadly) agree with #1. It would be better for animals and for all the reasons that she mentioned. I am not a vegetarian and I will never become one. I know that if I were to become one it would make some things better but meat is one of my favorite foods. Most meat-eaters ignore that fact because in a way it is offensive to them. In the end it is your choice. Bye!...Show more
Ronnie Barcus: I think that the difficulty of it depends on your reasons from being a veg! . If it is for ethical reasons it shouldn't be hard at all. Well at least it wasn't for me. I am a veg@n, therefore I don't consume anything from an animal like meat, dairy, eggs, honey, etc. But if you plan on being a lacto-ovo vegetarian (most common) you may consume anything you like as long as it doesn't contain meat, rennet, or gelatin. Eggs ,dairy, and all that other kind if stuff is fine, just watch out, some cheeses contain rennet from animal's (mostly cows) stomachs. Also realize this misconception. No type of Vegetarian eats fish or poultry. Some people try to make some kind of vegetarian out of that but it is not possible, vegetarians eat no meat. That is about it. I hope I have helped you!...Show more
Tom Romer: I have been a vegatearian since I was 16 - and I am now 47 (bummer).I have never found any problems staying strong and healthy. Soya is a good substitute for meat. Cheese is high in protein. Pulses (beans and lentils) and nuts and fruit and vegetab! les are all good sources of proteins and vitamins etc.If you eat a vari! ed diet - except for meat, you will have no problems staying healthy. Italian food and indian food are all pretty adaptable and there are plenty of meat free dishes. Are you considering eating fish and eggs? If so there will be no problems about keeping up with protein.Honestly - its not that big a deal - so long as you don't eat just vegatables then you will have no worries about staying healthy and satisfied. I never miss meat. I never have....Show more
Leisa Brodnex: I became a vegetarian right before my 14th birthday. For me, what drove me to become a vegetarian was the truth behind the meat on your plate. After watching countless documentaries on the truth behind the meat industry (Food Inc., Vegucated, Earthlings etc.) and after visiting an actual farm I decided that the right thing at the end of the day if I wanted to be healthier and happier was to become a vegetarian. At first it was difficult to get my parents on board but I've changed the way that my family ! eats and we've become much healthier. I'm not saying that its going to be easy for you, but there are so many vegetarian options out there today. I would research nutrition for vegetarians and also find out why you becoming a vegetarian. Is it for the environment, for the animals, for yourself, or for someone else? Good Luck. I hope you do become a vegetarian because you will live a long and healthy life, along with shrinking you carbon footprint, your impact on the environment and you'll save an average of 45 animal lives every year. Good Luck!...Show more
Adrian Sherlin: Good for you! Being vegetarian is awesome! It's so easy. I can't even imagine eating meat on a regular basis anymore. My favorite vegetarian food has got to be fake chicken patties from Morning Star. They taste just like the real thing. It's going vegan that is difficult!
Mercedez Trabue: I am 14, and have been a vegetarian since I was born. There are lots of delicious meat substitutes like burg! ers, chicken, hot dogs, beef, shrimp, etc.
Dick Baumgarten: its e! asy. pizza is everywhere. burger king has bk veggies, taco bell has burritos with cheese. cheese sandwiches are good.its not hard staying with it if you have a variety of snacks, desserts, lunch, dinner to choose from.its even easier if you have vegetarian friends to have dinner with.the only change is having veggie burgers, soy chicken, soy hot dogs and other faux meats instead of having dead animals.fish is not a vegetable. you can get the same fatty acids from fish with silk soymilk with DHA...Show more
Dionna Doyel: im 13 years old female and im a vegetarian ive been one for around a month and when i look at meat i sometimes get this feeling of hunger but its not as hard as you think its just a difficult choice like maybe becoming vegan after wards im just confused about that at the moment but GOOD LUCK
Marty Tichnell: I've been a vegetarian for nearly 20 years. It was very hard for the first couple of years but ethics override the cravings, however I st! ill miss chicken parmagana and little meat pies!! There is so much more available these days in restaurants and take aways and there are some fantastic vegetarian cook books around. When I first started I didn't eat eggs or fish either. After a couple of years I started eating fish because I became sick - as far as ethics go, someone said to me that fish eat fish, but cows, sheep and pigs don't eat meat. I also only buy free range eggs. ...Show more
Sammie Bocanegra: Im 16 and I'm a V. I eat pretty much everything besides meat obviously. Theres really so many things out there that you can get. I live on the east coast and theres a lot of vegetarian restaraunts around me. I used to think it was going to be really hard to stick with this but it's easier than I expected. Some of my favorite foods are caesar salad, veggie burger...best thing ever invented! You dont know how much vegan food is out there. Go to the store with your Mom and shop for your food while she s! hops for hers. Thats what I do. As long as your parents will buy you y! our vegan stuff it should be pretty easy :)...Show more
Weldon Totaro: NO YOU SHOULD BE A VEGETARIAN! You live on average 6.5 years longer, It is cheaper! THE MORE PEOPLE VEGETARIAN THE LESS ANIMALS ARE SLAUGHTERED! I have been veggie since I was 8
Lewis Ranft: Its a great life choice, and once you've passed the meat craving barrier, you won't regret it. Here's a bit of motivation for you - you save 8 animals a year if you're vegetarian. So if you're a vegetarian for 5 years, you've saved 40 animals. Worth it, isn't it? If you find it difficult, wean yourself from your favourite kinds by finding the vegetarian substitute for it, or a vege sub that tastes even better! (There's so much variety.) I mostly eat potatoes (chips, waffles, roasties etc.) bread, facon (awesome when fried with brown sauce in between white bread) and salads, fruits nuts, crisps. There's honestly still so much food out there when you don't eat meat. Good luck with it - you're making the ! right choice!...Show more
Lou Rought: I am a vegetarian and I have been since I was 12. It was very hard at first because I went straight from eating meat all the time right to only eating fish. I definitely recommend all Morning Star products. their "hot dogs" are so good! Good luck!
