Foster Padgette: The guy is a liar. Even though it is possible to agree to split your assets without a court battle in a divorce, but in order for a divorce decree to be legal, it has to be signed by a judge. You should be able to look up the divorce in your friend's county's public records. Otherwise, he is not divorced.

Minh Lefrancois: The guy you're talking to on facebook is most likely lying, which is not surprising considering it's online. Settling divorce out of court is still a legal divorce, and there will still be documentation of that divorce that are on file. More disturbing however is that you're considering dating someone who you trust so little that you would call court houses in his area to check on whether or not he's lying to you.
