my baby is almost four months and its hard to get safety straps on her?

Moira Woodrow: Which car seat do you have? Just out of curiosity...But are you sure that your infant car seat doesn't have another loop for the harness straps in the back by the shoulders? Did you check the hip straps too? Infant car seats usually come with a smaller harness loop so that it is easy to tighten the harness on a small newborn. But yes, if that is the case, then you have run out of harness material and your daughter needs a new car seat. Infant car seats can be outgrown really quickly, but usually not by harness length (by height or weight) from as little as 6 to 18 months of use. They don't last very long. I'm sorry that its not what you want to hear! There are many convertible car seats that go up to 35-40 lbs in the rear facing position. Here is my recommended list: RF means rear facing. FF means forward facing and I give out the top slot height. Top harness slot height is important as when you use the forward facing function of the convertible, the harnes! s straps must be at or slightly above the child's shoulders. Please note that when a child is rear facing, the harness straps must be coming from at or below the child's shoulders. Most children will outgrow their harnessed car seats by height before weight. Your infant car seat may go up to 35 lbs, however many children will outgrow it much earlier than that because the shell is short. Don't be afraid to look into the First Years True Fit because of its 35 lb rear facing weight limit. Right now your daughter weighs about 13 lbs (5.89 kg). According to CDC growth charts, she is on the 25th percentile for weight. If she stays on the 25th percentile for weight, she will reach 35 lbs (15.87 kg) when she is 53 months old. That is almost 4 1/2 years old. If your daughter gets into the 97th percentile for weight, she would reach 35 lbs when she is 25 months old (a little over age 2). http://www.cdc.gov/growthcharts/html_charts/wtagei...Here is the CDC growth table for children un! der 36 monthshttp://www.cdc.gov/growthcharts/html_charts/wtage! ....Here is the CDC growth table for children from age 2 to age 20 Selecting car seats with tall top harness strap slots will keep a child in a harnessed car seat long. For most children slots up to 18 inches can last until a child is 5-7 years old depending on their torso height. -First Years True Fit (any model is fine) (35 lbs RF; 65 lbs FF; 18" top harness slots) -Safety 1st Guide 65 (40 lbs RF; 65 lbs FF; 17" top harness slots) -Evenflo Triumph 65 (40 lbs RF; 65 lbs FF; 17" top harness slots) -Graco My Ride 65 (40 lbs RF; 65 lbs FF; 16 1/2" top harness slots) -Graco My Ride 70 (40 lbs RF; 70 lbs FF; 17" top harness slots) -Graco Size 4 Me 70 (also known as the My Size 70) (40 lbs RF; 65 lbs FF; 17 1/2" top harness slots) -Maxi Cosi Pria 70 (40 lbs RF; 70 lbs FF; 18" top harness slots -Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Convertible (45 lbs RF; 70 lbs FF; 17" top harness slots) -Diono Radian R100 (40 lbs RF; 65 lbs FF; 17 1/2" top slots) -Diono Radian R120/ RXT model (45 lbs RF; ! 80 lbs FF; 17 1/2" top harness slots) -Clek Foonf (50 lbs RF; 65 lbs FF; 18" top harness)And here is more about WHY it is recommended for children to ride rear facing as close to age 4 as possible:http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/121/...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8gU9zzCGA8

Chris Rosenkranz: Read your manual. Some seats have extra loops in the hip area that must be adjusted as the child grows to allow more of the harness out.

Percy Seiger: Are you pushing the button to adjust the straps? is she wearing heavy clothes? At this size, i really think a lil one should fit. There should be a car safety tech in your area to check the seat. Some can be found at the WIC offices, hospitals, and sometimes fire depts. The straps should never fall out of the adjuster. They could give a much better answer. http://www.safekids.org/in-your-area/...Show more

Cody Petrulis: A baby this size should fit easily into your car seat. Is she wearing a winter coat?! It is recommended that a baby be put into a car seat without a winter! coat. She should have either a bunting that fits inside the car seat, or the winter coat put on backwards after she is strapped in.Find a certified car seat technician in your area to check this out. Your police or fire department should know where you can find one....Show more

Karey Dunken: there is no more strap to adjust the safety strap, if i adjust it a little more the straps will fall out of the adjustable device, and we don't put her heavy clothing
