Edmund Rappley: The energy does peak it is more than while it is on but it is more like 2-3 seconds of power used upon turning it on NOT half a day so shut the lights off to save. If you are really curious go buy a kill-a-watt meter it will tell you power consumed costs about $25. Turn i! t on and off 10 times or leave it on for one minute. Test it with the kill-a-watt on cfl and incandescent you use less energy turning it on and off 10 times than you use for one minute of normal usage

Fertilizers cause eutrophication, which is because the amount of minerals in the fertilizer cause excess amounts of algae and other organisms of that nature.
