How real is Global Warming?

Lawanna Livsey: If Global Warming is really occuring the way some scientists say it is, it might mean some very catastrophic outcomes for life on this planet. Most scientists agree that the planet experiences various forms of climate change; the million dollar question is - how much of this climate change is due to human consumption and waste? What's made this a topic of such hot debate is the claim that it's already a global scientific consensus that Global Warming is real, caused by humans, and that a related catastrophe is imminent. Former Presidential candidate Al Gore has become famous recently for claims like this. Such a global scientific consensus doesn't truly exist. There are lots of scientists out there who believe in global warming, but feel it can't be proved to be a result of human activities. Other scientists believe global warming is real and is the result of human activities, but who don't feel it is an immediate threat. Still others maintain global! warming is simply the manifestation of occasional cyclic climate changes that occur throughout the universe regardless.All that said, global warming doesn't have to be a scientifically proven fact for us to benefit from being more responsible with our consumption and waste. However I am not one to argue with research many great minds have devoted their lives to.In the meantime, I know that my cleaning up my act and being a more responsible person when it comes to consumption can only be a positive. I am more than willing to take those small steps required such as carpooling, transit, recycling, composting, using as many renewable resources as available and simply turning off the lights (which have already been switched to compact fluorescent) when they are not needed.There isn't a great deal of work or cost to being an Eco friendly person, why some people are so adamantly against cleaning up their habits is a reprehensible.
