Genealogy - how to find info on someone born in 1825 Arkansas?

Ruthe Real: About one time in 20, if you find his family on the census when he is in his 40's, there will be an older man or woman in the household with him. Usually it is a parent or parent in law.Sometimes you can find a will, in which he is named; "To my son John, I bequeath . . .".If his father sells land to him, sometimes the relation will be in the record. If the church records survived (which is more common in New England than Arkansas), you may find his baptismal record....Show more

Mildred Pombo: start by looking at the 1830 and 1840 censusthere is no guarantee that the same name is the same person, but it will give you a starting point for finding out more info.also, try to find an obituary, they had a lot of details back then...Show more

Ty Kirton: Try local church records for the family.

Faviola Dewire: Have her check with any mormon relatives. They probably have the information on file. All I have to do is ask my MIL for information about m! y genealogy and she just digs out a book.

Michelle Sohre: If she has 1st and last name and an approximate year of birth, I would suggest that she look in the Census of 1850 in Arkansas. If this is a female relative I would suggest looking in the marriage license information for Arkansas and see if you can find out who she married. If this is a male relative then he should be listed in the census of 1850 and might still be living with his parents or nearby....Show more
